PodSnacks: Decibel

One term that is commonly found used in telecommunications is decibel. This is a measure of signal power, and is actually a relative measurement: it compares the powers of two signals using a logarithmic scale. We talk about signal loss between a transmitter and receiver in terms of decibels. We talk about the signal gain passing through an amplifier in decibels. We talk about the relative strength of a signal compared to noise in terms of decibels as well. In today's PodSnack, I'll take you through the basics, if you don't mind a little bit of math!
