Lately I've been getting more and more immersed in how television gets to the subscriber. Some of it is just downright fascinating. And it's all in the process of changing. Once again, IP and the Internet are changing things. Today, instead of sending television over cable systems or radio waves as a series of linear channels the subscriber chooses between, we are looking at a variety of models for taking video, putting it in IP packets, and sending it to the subscriber on demand and at their control. We call this IP television, or IPTV. It's an area of intense activity in the industry. Pull up an ear and listen as Peter explains the idea and the ramifications.
