Well, I'm still on the road. The class is almost wrapped up, with only the oral exams to be completed tomorrow. Meanwhile, time to get another PodSnack out. Yesterday I chose to talk about Ethernet over SONET (EoS). At the end, I mentioned that Next Generation SONET (NG-SONET) is a critical enabling technology for EoS. Today we're going to look at NG-SONET and identify the three basic enhancements it introduces: Virtual Concatenation (VCAT), the Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme (LCAS), and the Generic Framing procedure (GFP). We'll look at each of these in more detail in subsequent PodSnacks.
