Another use for YouTube: Video Resumes

Looking for a job? As the applications for video continue to expland, you might actually consider putting together your next resume in a video format. This is one of the many kinds of videos one can find on YouTube, and it is a practice that is beginning to expand. National Public Radio (NPR) did an article on the phenomenon in December that is worth a look! The article links to a few of the more creative and/or popular video resumes. Take the time to watch the Trent Willis video. You can also listen to the NPR Business Story of the Day podcast here.

YouTube can be used for many purposes. Last summer I discovered my wife was using YouTube to host videos of horses for sale for potential clients, one her videos is just shy of 1500 views. YouTube provides a quick and easy way to give potential buyers a sense if the horses movement and decide if it is something they are interested in pursuing further. If they are, she follows up with more convential methods (DVD, visits etc.). YouTube provides a great mechanism to further the conversation. In recent weeks it appears this use of YouTube has become common practice for others in the horse business. The video quality is pretty low, but is good enough to make a decision on whether it is worth continuing the conversation. Not to mention the price is right.
